Exhibition “Dracs i Colors” by Marga Cruz
The Consorci per al Tractament de Residus Sòlids Urbans del Maresme hosts permanently a copy of the entire exhibition called “Dracs i Colors, Maresme Modernista”, by photographer Marga Cruz.
Stained glass windows, roofs, columns, forged metal... remind us the Modernist time in the Maresme district.
The Maresme is an area where Modernism left its footprint, and this is one of the defining elements in the area (25 out of the 30 towns forming it keep samples of this architectural and cultural movement).
Since September 2010, the exhibition “Dracs i Colors, Maresme Modernista” (Dragons and Colours, Modernist Maresme) tours the area to show through 80 photographs the legacy this movement left here.
The exhibition does not intend to show the greatness of some of the towns, but to give a feeling of wholeness, of unity, just as if the Maresme district was one big city.
This exhibition tries to bring the audience closer to this legacy, unknown to many.
It is a colourful journey in the shape of a mosaic or as if it were an open watercolour case, where the main element is colour, the chromatic palette.
Dragons are also protagonist. We will see on of the most recurrent elements in Modernism: dragons. The magic element, rooted in our cultural tradition.
From today, the exhibition can be visited. It offers the colourful splendour and the magic of Modernist dragons captured by photographer Marga Cruz. The exhibition is divided in three different spaces in the building of the Consorci per al Tractament de Residus Sòlids Urbans del Maresme, located at 83, Carrer de la Teixidora, in Mataró, and it can be visited from 9:00 to 14:00 h.
