The participants of the Catalan-French meeting on energy recovery from municipal solid waste have visited the Centre Integral de Valorització de Residus del Maresme in Mataró
The visit has been organized by the French Embassy and the Catalan Association of Industrial Engineers
A group of French and Catalan businessmen visited last Friday the Centre Integral de Valorització de Residus del Maresme, located in Mataró. The councilor for Promoció Econòmica i Innovació (Economic Promotion and Innovation) of the city council of Mataró, Miquel Rey, welcomed them and thank them for their visit, and afterwards, the technical director of the Consorci, Carles Salesa, took them on a guided tour of the facilities of the plant. This way, they saw the technological improvements of a centre of reference, both due to the technological variety of the treatments that take place there and to the energy recovery achieved: the biogas, the Waste-to-Energy plant, and the photovoltaic solar pannels produce energy for the home consumption of more than 90,000 people. In addition, the Centre contributes to the energy supply of the Tub Verd (Green Pipe) network.
The visit was one of the activities planned on the second day of the meeting about energy recovery from municipal solid waste organized jointly by the French Embassy and the Environmental Commission of the Catalan Association of Industrial Engineers, which took place in the association’s facilities in Barcelona. After the visit to Mataró, the participants visited the Waste-to-Energy plant in Sant Adrià.
