Biggest photovoltaic solar cover in the Maresme district installed
It covers 2,150 square metres at the Centre Integral de Valorització de Residus del Maresme
Capable of producing 400,000 kWh of electric power per year
The Centre Integral de Valorització de Residus del Maresme has reached a new milestone in its way to become a referent in the use of renewable energies. On the roof of the centre, the biggest photovoltaic solar cover in the area, of 2,150 square metres, has been installed.
The solar energy obtained is estimated to generate 400,000 kWh of electric power per year from this year’s second semestre. The equivalence in domestic consumption is the amount of energy consumed by 400 people in a year. This way, the Consorci per al Tractament de Residus Sòlids Urbans del Maresme consolidates its goal to make the centre stand out for its excellence in energy efficiency.
Reduction of the CO2 emissions
Another direct consequence of the use of solar energy is that the Centre can contribute in a clear way in the fight against climate change. With the new photovoltaic cover, 160 tons of CO2 per year will cease to be released in the atmosphere. The same effect would be produced if 8,000 trees were planted in a year.
