UTE TEM gets the concession of the Centre Integral de Valorització de Residus del Maresme
The new concessionary organization brings almost 30 new jobs related to the green economy
A new ocupation source for the district
On 1 January, the UTE (Unió Temporal d’Empreses, Temporary Company Group) TEM (Tractaments Ecològics del Maresme) organization takes the concession of the Centre Integral de Valorització de Residus del Maresme for a time period of 15 years. With this change, not only the existing jobs will be saved (51) in the Waste-to-Energy plant in Mataró, but also the staff will increase to 80. The new concessionary companies will implement renewable energies in the new facilities, and this will result in the creation of 30 jobs when the new Centre operates at its full capacity. A part of these new jobs will have added value and will require qualified professionals in the field of renewable energy.
The Mataró company ENG will work for the new centre
The companies taking the concession are: SUFI SA (38%), VEOLIA PROPETE (38%), CORA TERRA (19%), BKW BIOFRAFTWERKE FURSTENWALDE GMBH (5%). A local company will work for the UTE: ENG, which will participate in the energy studies and the improvement works of the Waste-to-Energy plant, as well as in other tasks related to its field of experience in environmental engineering (environmental procedures, fire prevention projects, and general monitorization of the project).
The UTE TEM won on 18 May 2007 a tender to carry out the enlargement, adaptation and exploitation works in the facility owned by the Consorci per al Tractament de Residus Sòlids Urbans del Maresme. The change comes after 15 years during which the company TRM (Tractament i Revalorització de Residus del Maresme, SA) has had the concession. The new concession envisages both the extension and adaptation works (taking place since 2007), and the operation of the Waste-tp-Energy plant (1 January 2010) and the new MBT plant (second semester of 2010).
